About Ward 4

Ward 4 includes many of Saint Paul's best-known locations, including "Minnesota's Main Street," Snelling Avenue, and a large portion of Como Park. The Green Line runs through Ward 4 along the diverse and busy University Avenue business district. Ward 4 includes all or part of five neighborhoods: Hamline-Midway, Merriam Park, Saint Anthony Park, and parts of Macalester-Groveland and Como.

About Interim Councilmember Matt Privratsky
Matt Privratsky, a former aide to former Council President Mitra Jalali, was appointed by Saint Paul Mayor Melvin Carter to serve as interim councilmember for Ward 4 after Jalali vacated the position earlier this year. Privratsky is expected to serve on the City Council the new councilmember is sworn in following a special election on August 12, 2025.
Interim Councilmember Privratsky grew up in northern Minnesota and has lived in Saint Paul since 2013. He’s spent more than a decade working at the state and local levels on clean energy, housing, land use, small businesses, multi-modal transportation, and community first public safety. He lives in the Midway neighborhood with his wife Rochelle.
